What is the Mediterranean Maudsley Forum (MMF)?
Since 2007, the Institute of Psychiatry of King's College London has regularly exported its worldwide reputation for psychiatric research and clinical care to the centre of the Mediterranean. Thus, in this tradition of new learning and experiences, the 10th MMF continued to provide an update on social, psychological and biological aspects of psychiatric disorders, reviewing both advances in understanding the disorders and exciting new treatment methods.
The 10th MMF was organised by Professors Sir Robin Murray, Marta Di Forti, and Diego Quattrone from the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London; Professor Daniele La Barbera, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, and Professor Erika La Cascia from the University of Palermo; Professor Anton Grech, Director of Mental Health Services at the University of Malta; and Professor Giovanni Martinotti, Director of the Psychiatry Inpatient Unit at the University of Chieti-Pescara.
What did the 10th MMF cover?
The speakers were clinical psychiatrists and psychologists who are well-known international experts. They presented the most recent advances in Hot Topics in Psychotic and Mood Disorders, Addiction, Pharmacological and Psychological Treatment Interventions, Eating Disorders, Genetics and Epigenetics in Psychiatry, Neuroimaging and Neurocognition, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Who was the the 10th MMF for?
The course was intended for psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, other mental health professionals, neuroscientists, and students who wanted to know about the latest developments in psychiatry. We welcomed about 100 participants from Europe and further afield. So, there was plenty of opportunity to interact with the speakers and other participants. Both new knowledge and lots of fun!
The course was entirely in English.
